NODAL ANALYSIS
The node voltage method of analysis solves for unknown voltages at circuit nodes in terms of a system of KCL equations.
OHM'S LAW + KCL = NODAL ANALYSIS
RULES
1) Mark nodes wtth more than two branches.
2) Mark node voltages and ground(potential is zero)
3) Assume all currents are moving outwards
4) Apply KCL and ohm's law.
example
At node 1 assume all currents are outgoing
E1 is at higher potential
by ohm's law
I 1 = E1 – 10
I 1 = E1 – 10
2
I2 = E1 – 0
4
I3 = E1 – E2
2.5
I 1 + I2 + I3 = 0 (According to KCL )
E1 – 10 + E1 – 0 + E1 – E2 = 0
2 4 2.5
At node 2
assume E2 is at higher potential
all currents is going outwards
I 4 = E2 – E1
all currents is going outwards
I 4 = E2 – E1
2.5
I5 = E2 – 0
5
5
I6 = E2 – (-4)
1
I 4 + I5 + I6 = 0 1
E2 – E1 + E2 – 0 + E2 – (-4) = 0
2.5 5 1
